Settler colonialism is a form of colonialism in which a group of people, often from another country or culture, establish a permanent or long-term presence in a territory that is already inhabited by Indigenous or native populations. Unlike some other forms of colonialism, where colonizers might exploit the resources of a region without intending to establish a lasting presence, settler colonialism involves the settlers (or colonizers) making the colonized territory their new home. The goal of settler colonialism is often to replace or displace the Indigenous population with the settler population.
